Win a $100 Tree of Life Gift Voucher

Email through a photo of yourself wearing Tree of Life and the best outfit will win a $100 gift voucher at Tree of Life. We will be posting images of the images we love throughout the month.

The subject header should read "Photo Contest"
The contest will run from April 1st to April 30th
A maximum of 3 images per email

The photos will only be posted here on the blog, so the file size can be very small (no bigger than 1MB). I don't need hi-res images. It takes too long to download them.

Send your photos to: treeoflifephotocomp@gmail.com

To get the ball rolling I've posted an image of Rachel in her favourite Tree of Life dress from this season.

Beautiful Hand Painted Kashmiri Eggs

These beautiful hand painted eggs from Kashmir are the perfect gift for Easter.
Only $5 each and they'll last a lifetime
(unlike chocolate easter eggs that last about 2 minutes in my house!)

Inspiration from rural India

These beautiful images are of a group of nomadic basket weavers from Northern India.
When we saw these people on the side of the road we were shocked by their extreme poverty, and we were astounded by their incredible style and beauty.

We were so inspired by their creative mixing of fabrics, colours and prints we wanted to share these images with you.

Our photographer Mehera gave these people food to say thank you for allowing us to take photos of them. They were extremely grateful, and so were we.

Behind the scenes in India

We're often asked, are we a fair trade organisation?
Do our suppliers treat their workers fairly?

Tree of Life has always been a fair trade organisation. We have always had a commitment to being a business with a conscience.

These images are from one of the main factories that we work with in India. They were taken on our most recent buying trip to India.

Women in their saris quality checking the production.

Sizing being checked.

Garments being sewn.

As you can see there is good lighting, a cheerful atmosphere, and there are no child workers.
These staff are treated well and with respect.

subject: Henna tattoos at Six Flags

Hi Tian :)

I was walking through Six Flags over Georgia today and came across this in a henna tattoo booth.

What really confuses me is that while most of the descriptions are accurate, ALL of them are backwards except one - is labeled as "lovers" but backwards is labeled as "love"!

First thing I thought of was of sending it to Hanzi Smatter and letting the world see it :)
