Scarlet's 1st Birthday Party

Today was one of the prettiest days- it was in the mid-70s, a little breezy, and I couldn't have imagined a better afternoon for an outdoor birthday party. Our friends Natalie and Andrew threw their almost-one-year old Scarlet a birthday celebration at Joe's Farm Grill out in Gilbert and it was a ton of fun.  Henry had a bit of a had time though, as the party ran from 1:30pm-3:30pm...aka his exact naptime, but we powered through and he did a good job of holding it together. He just ended up napping so hard on the way home and went to sleep a bit early.  It was such a fun party though- Scar was so adorable trying her first bite of sugar and then opening all of her presents. Natalie did a great job, and the cupcakes were to die for, not to mention incredible for being homemade by her! It was a great afternoon celebrating the birth of such a lovely little lady, and I'm so happy we could drive down for the day. Love you, Scarlet!

Henry's first trip to the Zoo!

Today was so much fun. And I'm pretty sure Henry had fun too, although it's kind of hard to tell when you take a 15-month old to the zoo since he can't really say "hey this is SO fun!" But I'm guessing all of his pointing, laughing, and "what's that?" meant he loved it too.  It was a beautiful day (let's ignore the insane wind and focus on the sun!) and we met a handful of my friends and their kiddos for the afternoon. Our group spent a few hours walking around, playing, and snacking. We'd never been to the Phoenix Zoo and after going I think we will probably get an annual pass next fall. There weren't too many animals out today, but we did meet a huge rainbow-bummed baboon and some silly monkeys. We also saw tigers, giraffes, and an elephant, and pet some goats in the petting zoo. All in all, tons of fun. Here are some photos from our day:

an afternoon at Joe's Farm Grill

Yesterday was such a fun day!  Henry and I spent the afternoon with my bestie Sarah (I know that term is silly but I just kind of love it), and our friend Natalie and her daughter Scarlet. Little baby S. is only 8 weeks old and the sweetest thing. It was so good to meet her, and so good to spend time with girlfriends. I feel lucky that I have so many positive women in my life, and after lunch I felt just so thankful. Love those girls. We also have a girl's night out in Tempe planned for this Friday night and I can't wait!

But back to yesterday, we had lunch at Joe's Farm Grill, which is one of my favorite restaurants in the valley. Every single time I've been back the food has been consistently great- I highly recommend it!  This visit was no different, and we each got a cheeseburger (delicious) and various sides, from the on-site garden fresh salads to their to-die-for sweet potato fries.  We sat outside at the picnic tables and ate, girl talked about this and that, and just had the best time.  The weather was gorgeous too- warm but not too warm, with just a hint of a spring time breeze.

Here are some photos from our afternoon:

p.s. I know this is annoying, but if you have a moment, would you mind clicking this link and then clicking the thumbs up? Voting ends in four days and I'm close to the top and would like to stay there. I love all the fun moms I've met via these sites (and the new blogs I've discovered) so I don't feel too bad when I occasionally ask for votes. ;) I will probably bother you once more before the 16th when voting ends, and then again about the Samsung NYC trip. But that's it, I swear! haha.
